Greenhouses

We offer a large range of greenhouses, and we try to help you find the best product suitable for your needs, so we've categorised our greenhouses by Size, Style, Manufacturer and Model Name.  If you can't find what you need give us a call for some free advice.

What Size of Greenhouse should I buy? - Experienced gardeners will always tell you that your greenhouse will soon become full with plants, and that is when you wished you had purchased a larger one!  Our advice has always been to purchase the largest greenhouse you can comfortably accomodate, as you will almost certainly be utilising all of it in a short space of time, particularly in the spring.

What sort of Glazing is Best for me? - If you want a simple functional greenhouse that is going to be sited in a fairly sheltered spot then either Horticultural Glass or Polycarbonate would be suitable for you. The disadvantage with Horticultural Glass is that it does break quite easily when knocked and can even break in high winds as it is quite brittle. When it breaks it forms dangerous sharp shards, and so we don't recommend Horticultural Glass where children or the elderly are around.

If safety and strength is a priority, then consider Polycarbonate, Acrylic or Toughened Glass as your choice of glazing. Polycarbonate is extremely strong, almost unbreakable, it is even stronger than Toughened Glass. All our Polycarbonate greenhouses use UV-stabilised materials, that don't break down in sunlight and will maintain their clarity for at least 10 years. Polycarbonate is lighter than glass, and so we don't recommend it where the greenhouse will be subjected to regular strong winds, as some of the overall rigidity and strength of a greenhouse comes from the rigidity and weight of the glazing material. Polycarbonate panels are easily replaced at reasonable cost should any panels suffer damage, and we recommend Polycarbonate for all greenhouses where safety is a priority.

Toughened Glass is probably the ultimate glazing material, although not as strong as Polycarbonate or Acrylic. It is rigid and heavy, adding strength to the complete greenhouse. It can break under a really heavy impact, and when it does it shatters into thousands of small pieces, each of which is very sharp. Toughened Glass is very costly to replace, and it is difficult to find at a sensible price.
